Comprehensive Master Plan

Comprehensive Recreation, Parks, Green Space and Trails Master Plan

Cherokee County, Georgia, in cooperation with an experienced planning firm, Lose & Associates, and through research and public input will complete a Comprehensive Recreation, Parks, Green Space and Trails Master Plan that assesses the current level of service (LOS) and future needs of the County over the course of the next ten (10) years. The purpose of the project is to develop a community-supported plan that directly relates to the mission of the County and provides guidance to better prioritize, fund, develop and manage parks, recreation facilities, green spaces, trails and recreation programs.

Timeline & Project Status

Public Input Opportunities

Public involvement will be critical to the planning process. Input and feedback will make sure the plan addresses the future recreation needs for Cherokee County.

A variety strategies will be used to solicit input and feedback. A Steering Committee of local citizens will meet periodically at key points in the planning process to review progress and provide feedback. Elected and appointed officials as well as key county staff will be interviewed. Focus groups representing several leisure interest areas will be convened.

The general public will be engaged through two workshops and an open house presentation of the draft recommendations report. Finally, an online survey will be used to gather comments from those who cannot attend one of the meetings.
