Partnering for a Brighter Future

Mission Statement
Provide a forum for local leaders to have on-going dialogue linked to business, education, transportation, environment, jobs, and growth management issues. The mission of this forum is to develop an economic strategic plan for the community of Cherokee and ensure follow-through on the plan approved by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners.
The Economic Strategic Plan
An economic strategic plan begins with a vision, or direction, for the future that is widely shared by key business and industry stakeholders of Cherokee County. It includes a list of strengths and weaknesses, problems to be solved, weaknesses to be corrected, and opportunities to be pursued that are translated into specific goals and into actions to accomplish those goals.
Desired Outcomes:
- Strengthen partnerships across cities and among local businesses and industries.
- Create opportunities for cooperation with regional agencies.
- Support and create quality education and training opportunities to meet the skill needs of the businesses and industries in the community.
- Create new ideas and opportunities for entrepreneurial activities.
- Create planning, zoning and permitting processes to facilitate sustained and positive development.
- Create a strategic economic plan for Cherokee County that is nationally competitive - marketing and implementing key county initiatives to implement the plan.
- Attract new high-quality business and industry to Cherokee County.
- Ensure existing business and industry in Cherokee County will flourish in a supportive local business climate.
- Ensure a desirable quality of life for residents of the community.
What is our vision of the future?
What motivates local leadership and the citizenry to get actively involved in programs to improve their community? Generally, it is a sense of pride in the community - a belief that conditions could and should improve through both individual and joint effort. This motivation comes from a "shared vision" of the potential of the community - incorporated and unincorporated Cherokee County. The 27 member Cherokee Citizen's Roundtable group will ensure the continued involvement of our business, civic and community leaders as we work together to develop a shared vision for our community - a vision to guide the Comprehensive Plan update.
