	Hello, my name is Agatha. I am a 7 year old Domestic Short Hair Calico. I was brought back to the shelter on 7/16/2008 after being adopted because my owner told them I was not using the litter box, but that was not true; you see; I do not seem to have a problem using the box here at the shelter…so I don’t understand why I was returned…I have no problem being around other cats and I love people. I would love to go to a loving home where I can feel most comfortable…one place where I can be me, to be loved and to give love. I wish every day for a family … for a nice comfy couch … just for someone to love. Maybe you are that family???
	Hello…Our names are Ave and Sapphire. We were owner surrendered on 2/26/2008 by our owner, said that they had too many animals and could not keep us. We are both Black, Domestic Short hair felines, 4 ½ years of age. We get along great with dogs, cats and children. We must go home together. We are never away from each other; you will notice that we are always right next to each other… We love to nap, that is our favorite pastime… At first, Sapphire will be shy, but she will warm up to you for sure! We, like our other friends in here are all looking for the same thing…to find a home that we can go to, together and be loved, truly loved and not given away because they are moving or they just didn’t want us anymore…that leaves such a sad feeling inside all of us. We do not understand why we were left behind, only that we were….
	Hello, my name is Cuddles. I am a 3 1/2 year old domestic short hair. I came to the animal shelter on 4/12/08. The person that dropped me off had me for 2 months; I guess I was not what she wanted, because she just left me here. My name fits me, you see, I love to cuddle. I do get along with other cats, but I have to admit, I always want to be the boss; I’m the one in charge…so if it turns out that I am an only furry baby; that would be fine with me as well! I would love to be able to run and play…would you consider me?

	Hi, my name is Alpine. I am a 2 year old Coonhound and I weigh 64 pounds. I have a long history with the shelter, so you can ask one of my handlers for the story. I am a very head-strong young lady, with one very important goal... to be loved and to give love in a stable environment. You see, this is not my first time staying at the shelter. Because of my size and breed, I do require a home with a nice big, sturdy fenced-in back yard as I need to run and burn some energy. I am potty trained and I know some commands. I roll over for a cookie too! I would live to be able to run around and play. It would be wonderful if you were my new forever family!
	Hello, my name is Furr. I am a Carolina/Shepherd mix, approximately 2 years of age. Animal Control brought me to the shelter on December 4, 2007 . When they called my owner, they said they did not want me anymore. I could not believe it, nor, did I understand why. When they came here to get a dog, they said that I was exactly what they had wanted, that they “fell in love with me”; and I loved them, but they just didn’t love me enough…They told the shelter that they did not have time for me. I love people of all sizes, other dogs and I love to run and play! Everyone says they love my ears, something about Gizmo???…I just want to find a home where I can sleep on something comfy and not this wet, hard floor; where I will be loved. I have so much of it to give; I just need some in return… Could you be that home, that family?
	Hi, my name is Julius. I am a 4 year old Spitz/Cattle dog mix and I weigh 40 pounds. Do not be fooled by the tough guy act I put on in my cage. My bark is really just a defense mechanism. I was brought in to the shelter by Animal Control back in December of 2007. I spent the holidays away from my family and grew anxious for the day I would finally find a happy home again. I really am just a sweet dog with a lot of love to give. I am very low maintenance, I will sit at your feet for treats and want nothing more than to just share the company of a warm home with a good family. I love to play and I have been know to return toys to your for more enjoyment. If you choose to adopt me, I promise to be a calm, loving, life-long companion!

OTHER TYPES of ANIMALS

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is in need of donations of dog beds as modeled by Corinne in the picture (Corinne is available for adoption, please click on the link above for her information). The beds provide a comfortable spot for the dogs to lay up off the concrete floor. Cost of each bed ranges from $52 to $64.
