County Manager, Jerry W. Cooper

 DUTIES
The County Manager is the chief executive officer for the county. The County Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of the day-to-day activities of county employees who are not employees of a constitutional officer. Other responsibilities include fiduciary responsibilities, public relations, policy implementation, and coordination of county activities. The County Manager is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves at its pleasure.

BIOGRAPHY
Jerry W. Cooper serves as County Manager for Cherokee County, Georgia, the seventh largest county in Georgia and one of the fastest growing counties in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, with a population of 205,000 and an annual budget of $180 million. Having served in this position since April 2001, he manages the operations of 23 County government departments and agencies. Jerry has served 20 years in local government management as City Manager of Woodstock, Georgia; Assistant City Manager in Newnan, Georgia; and as Staff Administrator in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

A native of White Hall, AR, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Cooper is active in numerous organizations, including the Cherokee Boys & Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce, Reinhardt College Board of Advisors, Cherokee Child Advocacy Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Rotary Club of Woodstock and DUI Court Advisory Committee.
