MISSION STATEMENT
To regulate, review and inspect land development activities in unincorporated Cherokee County. To recommend to the Board of Commissioners the acceptance of subdivision roads, right-of-ways and appurtenant drainage structures. To coordinate, schedule and conduct plan review meetings with applicants and various county departments. To maintain development logbooks, databases and files for all permits, plats and bonds applied for and accepted. To review construction plans and subdivision plats to ensure compliance with applicable ordinances and regulations. To educate and inform the development community, utilities and other individuals involved in land disturbing activities, for compliance with the erosion and sedimentation control ordinance of Cherokee County.
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Goals and Objectives
  1. To be responsive, in a timely manner, to the needs and requests of the citizens of Cherokee County relative to residential and commercial development in the county.
  2. To increase the quality of inspections by developing personnel through continuing education, monthly meetings and seminars.
  3. To improve the infrastructure of newly constructed subdivisions and commercial developments in Cherokee County.
  4. To revise the resolutions for county acceptance of public improvements by adding road lengths, widths, right-of-ways, beginning and ending points.
  5. To develop a team effort in working together with the Cherokee County Water & Sewerage Authority in regard to compaction at sewer manholes and sewer lines located within the roadway.
