There are many programs for seniors in Cherokee County. Sometimes, however, finding the right resource to meet your needs can be a challenge. The Cherokee County Senior Center is committed to helping you find the help you need. With one free and confidential telephone call, you can access information about services and programs for seniors throughout Georgia. Caregiver Assistance Program - 770.345.5312
Caring for an elderly loved one can make a person feel isolated and overwhelmed. If you're this person, we have a place for you in our Caregiver's Assistance Network. Come to our quarterly meetings and connect with others in your situation, hear experts in the field talk about things you need to know and find out what resources in the community are available to help.

Nutrition Programs

Congregate Meal Program - 770.345.6730
Join us for lunch! Monday through Friday, we serve a hot, nutritious meal along with enjoyable activities designed to provide social, mental, and physical stimulation. Our meals are nutritionally balanced and provide one-third of the recommended daily allowances for adults over age 60 and are low in sodium. From 9 am to 1 pm, we offer a variety of programs and activities. Check our calendar to discover some of the opportunities provided. Activities include: Bingo, Shopping trips, Parties, Legal aid, Blood pressure checks, Arts and crafts

All Cherokee County seniors sixty years of age or older are welcome to join us for this program. A $1.50 contribution for meals is appreciated; however, no eligible seniors will be denied a meal if unable to contribute. Call us at (770) 345-6730 to learn about this service.

Home Delivered Meals Program (Meals-On-Wheels) - 770.345.1224
For those who are unable to travel to the center for lunch, a meal can be delivered to a person’s home. Our caring volunteers deliver a hot, nutritious, and well-balanced meal Monday through Friday to homebound seniors sixty years of age and over. All our meals provide one-third of the recommended daily allowance for adults over age sixty and are low in sodium. All seniors must reside in Cherokee County to be eligible for this program. A donation of [insert dollar amount] is gratefully appreciated to cover program costs, but services will not be refused for inability to pay. Home Maker Services - 770.345.1224
The Homemaker Services program is designed to help functionally impaired seniors live independently in their own homes as long as possible. Homemaker Aides provide in-home assistance to clients who need help with light housekeeping tasks. Adults sixty years of age or older who live in Cherokee County are eligible for this service. There are no fees. You may also learn about this program by sending us your contact information. Click here to reach a page where you can refer yourself or someone else to the program. Transportation Services
The Cherokee County Senior Center will provide transportation to and from the senior center’s morning program, scheduled field trips, grocery shopping, and medical appointments for our clients. In addition, transportation can be arranged to other locations within Cherokee County. This service is provided through a contract with the Cherokee Area Transportation System (CATS) five days per week. The fleet is equipped to handle passengers with assistive devices such as wheelchairs. All residents of Cherokee County can utilize CATS; however, only adults sixty years of age or older are eligible for reduced fare service to the center for programs. A one dollar contribution for a round-trip is requested for current Cherokee County Senior Service clients. Higher fares apply to other destinations and for other passengers. Community Outreach
It is very important to let the county know what services we have to offer, so all our seniors can receive the help they need. We rely on you, our community businesses, organizations, and individuals to collaborate with us in our efforts to spread the word.

Presentations to Community Organizations
There are a large number of organizations in our county that serve seniors, such as churches, doctor’s offices, and pharmacies. It is crucial that organizations are aware of our services so they can best help serve their clients and make appropriate referrals. Senior Services will provide a presentation about our programs and services at your place of business at no charge. This community service will give you information to help you make referrals for your clients, your family or friends, or other loved ones in need of help.

Brochure Distribution
In addition, we publish a free brochure describing our services and contact information for each program. You can help us distribute this brochure widely throughout Cherokee County by displaying our pamphlet at your organization. Your partnership with us in this effort will help us in our mission to reach all seniors and their families.

Provide a Presentation to Our Seniors
In addition, we welcome representatives of organizations and other professionals to provide a presentation to our seniors. Representatives of legal aid, doctors, and social workers are some of the speakers who have generously given of their time to provide educational presentations to seniors involved in our daily activities. Volunteering your time and expertise is greatly appreciated.
