Stormwater Management

Mission Statement
The Mission of the Cherokee County Stormwater Management Division is to protect the water quality and aquatic habitat in our streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. The county’s Stormwater Management program includes inspection and maintenance of county stormwater structures, public education and public involvement in stormwater pollution prevention, erosion and sediment control permitting and inspections for property owners, citizen complaints, and illicit discharge detection and elimination.

The county’s Stormwater Management Plan is designed to meet the requirements of the NPDES Phase II MS4 Stormwater Permit issued by the GA Environmental Protection Division and the requirements of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District’s Watershed Management Plan.

The Stormwater Management Division is a unit within the Cherokee County Engineering Department.
