Mission Statement
The Cherokee County GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Department's mission is to support and service other county departments and the public by maintaining and providing spatial information in the form of paper maps, digital maps, and database format.

Property Ownership Information and Maps (Tax Maps) - are state mandated and are maintained from recorded deed and plat information. Owner names, general shape, size and relative locations of properties along with an assigned map and parcel ID number are consolidated and sent to the Board of Tax Assessors office for tax digest preparation. Tax Map sets are used by various internal departments for informational purposes.

Emergency 911 Maps - are maintained from recorded subdivision plats and information received from addressing services division. These maps contain streets, street names, address ranges and (E)mergency (S)ervice (N)umbers and are used primarily by E-911 for dispatch purposes. The Board of Voter Registration and County School Board also request these maps.

Zoning Maps - are maintained from submitted site plans as re-zonings are approved by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners. These maps have tax map and parcel information with the appropriate zoning designations overlayed. Also city boundaries are updated on these maps from annexation information received from cities.

Road Maintenance Maps - are maintained from recorded subdivision plats, commission approved resolutions and information received from the Roads and Bridges department. These maps are used primarily by the Roads and Bridges and the Engineering department.

Specialty Maps - The mapping departments also produces various specialty drawings as requested by commissioners, the county manager and other departments. Custom Maps are also available. Please contact the department for more information and pricing.
