Adoptions

CCAS is an open adoption facility. Our knowlegable staff will try to help match you to the best possible animal for your lifestyle and let you know any information we have on the animal of your choice. Some animals may have special requirements such as fenced yards for the "bully" breeds and extra large dogs, some may require "no small children" or there could be some special heath needs with others. We want you to walk through and find an animal you like and spend some time with them so that you get to know their personality. If you have any other dogs at home, we ask that you bring them back to meet the dog of your choice so that we know they will get along; if you have children, please bring them so that we know everything will be ok once they leave the shelter. Don't be hesitant to ask questions.

The fees are $100.00 for any animal available for adoption, which includes the spay or neuter, microchip and the first round of routine vaccinations (1st set minimum for puppies/kittens) Heartworm test for adult dogs, Leukemia test for adult cats, Leukemia for kittens and some additional services. Please note that if the animal you adopt requires additional shots, you will be responsible for them. You will be asked several questions, please keep in mind that it is in the best interest of you and your companion animal that you answer honestly. We do reserve the right to refuse an adoption to anyone we feel is not a good match.

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is in need of donations of dog beds as modeled by Corinne in the picture (Corinne has been adopted but there are many great dogs like her at the shelter. Please click on the link above for more information). The beds provide a comfortable spot for the dogs to lay up off the concrete floor. Cost of each bed ranges from $50 to $100. If you would like to donate please go to kuranda.com and click on "Donate a bed" at the top of their web site. Then choose Georgia Shelters - look for Cherokee County Animal Shelter. Thank you for your support!
