Dispossessory Actions

This is a specialty page created by the Magistrate Court office to further define certain aspects of their mission or to provide space to report on special projects and initiatives. To return to the department main page, simply click here.

How does the Tenant know that he or she is being sued?

You must have the Tenant(s) served with a copy of the Dispossessory Action. The Sheriff/Constable at a charge of around $25.00 per Defendant ordinarily serves this action. You may include this payment with the payment of the filing fee to the Clerk of Court who will forward the service fee to the Sheriff/Constable.
