Building Permits And Inspections

Building permits are required by Cherokee County to make sure structures are built to code to protect the public by reducing the potential hazards of unsafe construction and ensuring public health, safety, and welfare of your family, your friends and future owners. The following building codes have been adopted by the State of GA as the minimum construction standards with Georgia Amendments and are applicable state wide:

All codes listed above have Georgia amendments. Amendments can be downloaded at www.dca.state.ga.us

Permits

The Development Service Center will permit all construction activity in the areas of unincorporated Cherokee County and the City of Waleska. Our staff will review and issue the following permits;

Please make sure with all applicaitons, with the exception of new residential houses, that you include a separate document with a scope of work.

Building inspectors ensure that new construction, changes, or repairs comply with local and national building codes and ordinances, zoning regulations, and permit specifications. For more information please visit our Building Inspections Department .
