Building Permits And Inspections|Service Permits

Service permits are available to those that are working a trade, i.e. plumbers, electricians, HVAC, etc. at a location within unincorporated Cherokee County.  All permits must be issued before work is started and will be issued only to state licensed technicians.  

Emergency permits: work is allowed to be completed in the case of an emergency (i.e. broken water heater at night) a permit must be obtained as soon as possible and a final inspection must be performed.

YOU MAY NOW APPLY FOR SERVICE PERMITS ONLINE! VISIT OUR CITYVIEW PORTAL TO APPLY, LOOK UP THE STATUS OF YOUR PERMIT AND PAY YOUR FEES. 

Cherokee County strives to provide online resources in a secure manner to respect your privacy when you visit our site.  To secure your privacy, please do not upload documents containing sensitive information (e.g. driver's license, social security #, private phone numbers and personal email, etc.).  We will not disclose any personally identifiable information collected online except where you have given us permission , or is public information under the Georgia Open Records Act O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 "

Permit fees:  $50.00 - you may pay your fee by credit card (a convenient fee of 3% will be assessed to each credit/debit transaction - a minimum of $2.00 for all transactions under $67.00), cash or check.

Inspections - An inspection (or several, depending on the scope of work) is required. Visit our CityView Portal and register to schedule inspections, upload documents related to your permit and see inspection's results in real time. 

Plans - All electrical, plumbing and mechanical work for commercial buildings over 5,000 square feet and/or public assembly must be designed by a professional, with exceptions.  If you would like to be sure whether plans are required or not for your project, please email our Director of Building and Development Services at [email protected].  To submit plans, please visit our CityView Portal and download the Digital Review User's Guide for more information.
