Volunteering

Senior Services

Volunteer Driver Program : Senior Services is looking for compassionate volunteers to help with the Volunteer Driver Program.  Many seniors in our community are unable to drive themselves to needed appointments and many do not have family members to assist them.  The Volunteer Driver program provides trips to the grocery store, bank, post office, regular doctors appointments, etc.  Schedules are set to accommodate the volunteer's availability and trips typically last between 2 -3 hours.  If you are interested in volunteering for this program please contact Laura at 770-345-2674 or email [email protected]

Adopt-A-Senior Program: Each December, Cherokee County Senior Services asks the community for holiday gift bags for our seniors. A specific “main” item is requested, along with stamps, grocery gift cards and anything else the gift giver would like to add.  Our Meals on Wheels volunteers then deliver a gift bag to each of our seniors. These gift bags are very much appreciated by the seniors and are sometimes the only holiday gift the senior receives.

This program has been extremely popular and one that many generous individuals and local organizations lend a hand to. Look for more information on this program in the local media as the holidays approach.    [email protected]

Donations: Donations are always needed and welcome. Consider making a gift to Cherokee County Senior Services to support all crucial programs. We are always in need of rollators, adult pull ups, toilet paper and paper towels. We could not complete our mission without the help of caring people, whose contributions directly support our effort to help those in need. Your generous contribution improves the quality of life of our county’s seniors, and strengthens our community as a whole. Call Joy at 770-345-1224 or email [email protected]  NOTE:  We are no longer accepting clothing or food donations.

All donations are tax deductible. The VAC is a nonprofit volunteer based organization whose mission is to encourage volunteerism, help plan and develop fundraising activities to benefit all of Cherokee County Senior Services programs and to be ambassadors to the community by bringing awareness of programs and events that benefit Senior Services, their clients and the community.

Programs supported by the VAC are:

These are just a few of the programs we have in place to assist the frail and homebound seniors in Cherokee County. If you would like to join this group it will not take much of you free time. We understand that today’s volunteers are a diverse group. Many are still raising families and have full-time jobs. Some are active on with other charities; the VAC is very accommodating and will not require much of your free time. We hold several fundraisers during the year. With the help and commitment of a strong volunteer base working together, the commitment for this is minimal as well. Please consider joining the VAC. If you need additional information please send an email to [email protected]
