Jay Worley is the Cherokee County Recreation & Parks Director.  Since he began his career in Cherokee County in 2005 he has also served in the capacity of Athletic Division Director, Recreation Manager, and Recreation Supervisor.  Prior to Cherokee, he worked with Gainesville Parks and Recreation Agency from 1999 to 2005 as a Program-Athletic Coordinator.

Jay graduated from the University of West Georgia in 1998 with a B.S. in Recreation and a Minor in Business Economics. While in school he worked in the Intramural and Recreation Services Department at West Georgia as a Student Manager for the intramural leagues.  After his graduation, Jay worked at the Southwire Wellness Center in Carrollton, GA as a Recreation Coordinator and also taught middle school as a long-term substitute Physical Education Teacher. 

Jay is an active member of both the National Recreation & Parks Association and Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.  He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional as well as a Certified Youth Sports Administrator.  He is a graduate of GRPA Leadership I & II as well as a graduate of the George Harris Executive Management Institute at UGA.  Jay is also a 2021 Graduate from the NRPA Directors School in Ashburn, VA.

He is married to Amy Wofford Worley of Canton and they have two children, Emma and Reid who are also very active in the community.  In his spare time, Jay enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, hunting, and fly fishing.
