Industrial Moratorium

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has enacted a temporary emergency limited moratorium on acceptance of Light Industrial (LI) and Heavy Industrial (HI) applications for rezoning and special use permits. The moratorium is in effect until February 5, 2019.

SW Cherokee Moratorium

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has enacted a temporary emergency limited moratorium on acceptance of applications for rezoning and special use permits within the SW Cherokee Area.  The moratorium is in effect until April 15, 2019.

Planning is a coordinated, continuous and comprehensive process promoting the vision of the community by providing an environment for orderly growth and development, creating opportunity for business and commercial activity and protection of natural, historical, and cultural resources.

The Department of Planning and Zoning serves as a resource on zoning, subdivision of property, development regulation and issues, population and socio-economic data, and similar material relating to the growth and development of Cherokee County. The Department is responsible for the Long Range and Current Planning activities providing a wide array of comprehensive planning and land use regulatory services to the interests of Cherokee County.
