Silver Roamers

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you tired of staying home? Do you like to have fun? Then why not come join the Silver Roamers. We meet once a month to discuss upcoming events, participate in early registration and visit with each other. There are numerous BENEFITS of becoming a Silver Roamer. You will receive discounts on events and trips; see wonderful attractions in Georgia; and best of all meet a group of amazing men and women. Membership dues are $30 per year. To join, simply come by the Cherokee County Senior Services at 1001 Univeter Rd in Canton, or register online! Even if you are not a member we would still enjoy having you attend! Hope to see you soon!

What is the history of the Silver Roamers?

The Silver Roamers is a membership club for active adults, age 50 and older, that was established by Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency staff over 15 years ago. Since that time we have traveled over 45,000 miles. Now the Silver Roamers are under the umbrella of Cherokee County Senior Services and offering the same program if not more.

What are the Silver Roamers all about?

We have a monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of each month; two day trips monthly; and occasional overnight trips annually.  It’s a great way to socialize, meet new people, and see all that our beautiful south has to offer. Call for meeting details.

What are the benefits of my annual $30 membership fee?

Prority sign up for events plus a $10 member discount on trips. A monthly newsletter is emailed to you updating you on the latest Silver Roamer news. We also have a water walking exercise class called “Never Roam Alone”.

What if I have to cancel for a trip I’ve signed up for?

We know things come up unexpectedly and you may have to cancel.  If you cancel prior to a day trip you can receive a full 100% credit if money has not been paid out on that trip. If you are not able to show up the day of a trip, you will not receive money back if money has already been paid out for the trip.  If you prefer a refund, a $5 automatic, administrative fee is deducted on top of the above percentages.  Please know that the above applies for day trips only; overnight trips vary.

What do I do when I’ve signed up for a trip?

We pick up at the indicated times at the Boys and Girls Club in Canton.  We travel in CRPA & Senior Services vehicles which consist of a 20-passenger bus, 28-passenger bus, and a 14-passenger mini bus. This is standard on all of our trips but can vary.

What if there is inclement weather?

All trips are subject to cancelation due to inclement weather.  A cancelation will be determined as soon as possible. If an inclement weather warning is issued for Cherokee County, the trip is automatically canceled.  If the trip cannot be rescheduled, we will issue a full credit to your account.  If you choose not to travel due to your own concerns, credits will be issued on a case-by-case basis.

We are excited that you are interested in joining our group and hope you find it as rewarding as we do!  If at any time you need anything or have trip suggestions, contact Wayne Urquhart at 678-493-6116 or [email protected] I look forward to getting to know you.
