ORDINANCE PROSECUTION
The Office is responsible for the prosecution of all county ordinance violations in the Magistrate Court of Cherokee County. Ordinance violations include violation of county property maintenance standards, zoning ordinance violations, county animal control cases, and cases involving the restricted operation of certain vehicles (no through-truck routes, trash truck littering violations, and a limited number of parking and U-turn violation issues).
In addition to these County ordinance issues, the Office prosecutes city animal control ordinance violations that occur within the cities of Woodstock, Holly Springs, Canton, and Ball Ground.
Cherokee County Ordinance and Animal Control violations are investigated by Deputy Marshals with the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office. City Animal Control violations are most often investigated by the Marshal’s Office, but can also involve city police officers.
If you have received a citation which is not considered a "Must See Judge" offense and you wish to plea guilty and pay your fine without coming to court, you may do so in several ways.
- You may pay in person at the Cherokee County Magistrate Court Clerk's Office. Their office lobby hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.;
- You may pay online by visiting Magistrate Ordinances - Fines and Fees;
- You may pay by mailing payments directly to the Clerk's office. Please visit their website or contact their office for specific instructions for mailing your payment.
